The .au Co-Marketing and Innovation Program (CMIP) aims to grow the .au namespace and the domain name industry by supporting accredited .au registrars.
The program's objectives are to:
- Grow total .au domains under management
- Increase registrar support for the .au brand
- Drive innovation in the industry
- Support the launch and continued growth of the .au direct namespace
- Build a diverse, resilient, and competitive registrar landscape
- Improve digital inclusion for all Australians
Who is eligible to apply for funding?
.au accredited registrars actively selling .au domain names are eligible to apply for CMIP funding.
Types of funding available
Eligible registrars can apply for up to $250,000 of CMIP funding in a financial year.
There are three streams of funding available to ensure registrars of all sizes can benefit from the program.
Voucher
Up to a maximum of $25,000 inc. GST
Voucher funding offers a simple way to access services, advice or expertise for smaller projects with a fast turnaround on funding decisions.
Grant
For amounts of $25,000 to $250,000 inc. GST
Grant funding is provided direct to registrars for funding larger, growth-focused projects. Grants have a co-funding requirement and increased reporting obligations.
Rebate
The CMIP also has the capacity to offer rebate incentive programs. CMIP rebate initiatives are opt-in, and may include incentives paid against agreed growth targets or other measures.
Detailed information about the funding streams can be found in the CMIP Guidelines, available below.
Applying for funding
To apply for grant or voucher funding, registrars will need to submit an application detailing the objectives, activities and budget for the proposed project and demonstrate how it meets the program's objectives.
Applications for funding are initially assessed by the CMIP Committee which consists of staff from auDA and Afilias.
auDA’s CEO grants final approval for all CMIP projects.
The application form and details of the application and assessment process can be found in the Program guidelines.
Reporting
All approved applicants are required to submit project acquittal reports. Recipients of grant funding will also need to provide additional progress reporting.
The Co-Marketing and Innovation Program submits regular activity reports to the auDA board, and will publish high level overviews of program activity as part of auDA’s regular public reporting.
